Hello there, Julia here from Enjoy Apartments. In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, we spoke in the office about women who make a difference in society. There are so many examples of women who are real power women, both personal sources of inspiration such as family and friends but also celebrities known for their good deeds were discussed.

Are you ready for some inspiration? We’ve selected some of the women that we would like to put in the spotlight!

But first, some things about International Women’s Day; International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8th. It is a global day dedicated to recognizing the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. The day also serves as a call to action for accelerating gender equality. International Women’s Day has been observed since the early 1900s and is marked by various activities, including rallies, conferences, art exhibitions, and more, aimed at celebrating women’s accomplishments and advocating for gender parity. Each year, there is a specific theme designated to highlight different aspects of women’s rights and empowerment. The campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion.

And now a selection of women who, according to the Enjoy Apartments team, are real power women/sources of inspiration.

The first one in the list is Katherine Murray Millett also known as Kate Millet, she was an American feminist writer, educator, artist and activist. She wrote the book Sexual Politics, it’s based on her dissertation at Columbia University. Her book is considered a groundbreaking work that analyzed the power dynamics between the sexes and challenged traditional gender roles.

She was not only an intellectual but also an activist who actively campaigned for women’s rights. She co-founded several women’s organizations to address issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. In addition, she expressed her ideas through various forms of art, including sculpture and writing. Her multidimensional approach allowed her to communicate complex ideas to a bigger audience.

And then Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, A world-renowned singer, songwriter, producer and entrepreneur. Why she is the real queen B? She has a lot of influence spanning across multiple industries, from music to fashion and entrepreneurship. Beyoncé has used her platform to advocate for various social and political causes, including racial equality, feminism, and LGBTQ+ rights. She has supported initiatives like Black Lives Matter and donated to various charities.

Overall, Beyoncé’s combination of talent, business acumen, activism, and influence make her a significant figure in contemporary culture and a role model for many, earning her the title of a power woman.

#3 The princess of Wales, Diana. Known for her activism and glamour. She was a real icon and grew up close to the royal family and became the first wife of Charles III. She was celebrated in the media for her unconventional approach to charity work particularly, her efforts to raise awareness and funds for causes like AIDS, leprosy, homelessness, and landmines. Her activism and dedication to humanitarian causes earned her widespread admiration and respect.

Even after her tragic death, Diana’s legacy as a compassionate and caring individual lives on. Her work continues to inspire people around the world to contribute to charitable causes and make a difference in the lives of others.

In addition to these celebrities, there are of course countless other women that not everyone knows that deserve a place in this list, such as mothers and grandmothers.

Here is an inspiring story about one of them:

One of the women, was an Italian immigrant in the 20-30’s in another continent, who couldn’t speak the language and on top of that, she was a person who knew how to maintain a strong personality even though at the time divorce was frowned upon.  She knew how to face up to it and was able to maintain the family union and her love life at the time. At the age of 50, she started a family business (which is still going strong). She is a person who never gave up and always trusted herself. Today at the age of 100, she continues to be so. She is a person who knows how important it is to keep taking care of her head, nutrition and vitality and is still strong and healthy.

There are so many qualities that can make women a real power woman. Consider, for example, always continuing to be positive despite setbacks. Always being ready to help people and always remaining friendly and polite. One of the things that often comes with this is perseverance and we are so grateful for all the women who have this!

We hope we have inspired you with this blog! Who is your favorite?

Have a happy International Women’s Day!
