There are three easy basic steps to start with shopping TAX free in Barcelona.
1. Ask for your travel tax free form.
- Where? In the store where you are buying your items
- When? At the time of purchase
2. Stamp the form.
- Where? At customs desk at the airports
- When? Leaving the EU
Remember: No stamp = No refund!
3. Cash it.
- In cash: at a travel customs refund point
- Cheque to home address
- By bank transfer
- In your credit card
There are a few things that are useful to keep in mind:
- This way of buying and getting a refund back is a legal way of doing your purchases.
- The tax free shopping can’t be applied for services.
- The merchandise you have purchased must be still unused upon leaving the European Union.
- You always need a customs stamp when you want to charge your fund.
- The tax free forms are valid for three months.
