Rotterdam food market,  the Dutchified version of world market ‘La Boqueria’

It seem like you’re in a fairytale where supersized fruit and vegetables come to life! On the ceiling raspberries so big as tress and a waterfall of cherries fall down.
The interior is urban and modern. A market with over 100 spectaculars booths with daily fresh affordable and fair products.

Call it clever, weird or exorbitant. My opinion: It’s amazing! Sellers with passion, local heroes, but also established names around the country under one crazy and colorful roof. A sensory explosive.

From the butcher around the corner till Albert Heijn the biggest chain supermarket  form the Netherlands for the additional shopping.

It’s all going to happen under the horse shoe-shaped arch. It must be lucky made area with happy people who’s buying healthy product of the green heart of Holland. Are you still in the mood of feeling specialty well.

Beside that it looks fantastic, there is for everybody enough choose! You can go to the local ‘ Bram Ladage’ its real Rotterdam where you can find the most delicious frites. There is a great fishmonger, fantastic vegetable booths and many restaurants!

As if this wasn’t trippy enough there will be 228 unique apartments for sale of hire in the arch itself!  It will be surprising combinations of architecture, food, shopping, eating, working and living.

Oh there is one problem. The Rotterdam market isn’t air-conditioning! That means that the chocolate in the summer is smelting away, below your eyes, and in winter it’s too hard to bite. Not really useful! Don’t worry, experts working hard to find a solution to prevent this. The weather in the Netherlands could be changing more than twice a day. Nothing happens, but still delicious when chocolate has always the perfect bite.

You can find the hall at the Ds. Jan Scharpstraat 28 in Rotterdam. It is just as easy to get. With a parking garage directly below the hall.  Do you want to go by train? Just as easy from Blaak station is right beside the market hall. Not just the trains stop here, but also the metro line A, B and C, the tram lines 21 and 24 and the bus lines 32 and 48. Tip: go during the week, on the weekend it seems to be really hysterically!

The Markthall at Rotterdam looks like La Boqueria at the famous La Rambla in Barcelona. I’ recognize the Catalan culture, theirs kitchen traditions, often good quality, good mannered market traders who pamper theirs consumers. The influence is big enough: snug, cozy and a nice place to be.
