Welcome back to my blog, A Guide by Julia! I’m Julia, and as some of you might already know, I love sharing my travel experiences to the most beautiful places in the World. Today, we’re heading to a destination that holds a special place in my heart: Sitges. This charming coastal town, just 35 kilometers from Barcelona, has everything you need for a perfect vacation.
Why Sitges?
Sitges is known as the “Gem of the Mediterranean,” and it’s easy to see why. This town offers a unique blend of culture, nature, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you love relaxing on the beach, strolling through picturesque streets, or enjoying delicious Spanish tapas, Sitges has it all.
The Beaches
With 17 beaches to choose from, there’s a spot for everyone. My personal favorite? Platja de la Ribera. This beach is close to the town center and has a relaxed vibe. a A tip from me: go early in the morning when it’s still quiet and enjoy a stunning view of the sea with the sunrise.

A Stroll Through the Old Town
The historic center of Sitges is a maze of narrow streets lined with white houses, boutiques, and cozy terraces. Don’t miss visiting the iconic Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla. From there, you’ll have an amazing view of the coast and the town.
Delicious Food and Drinks
Spain is famous for its incredible cuisine, and Sitges is no exception. Make sure to try a plate of “paella” or the local specialty “xató,” a salad with codfish and a special sauce. For drinks, head to one of the charming beach bars, or as the locals call them: chiringuitos.

Festivals and Events
If you love festivities, Sitges is the place to be! Especially during the famous carnival held every February. It’s a colorful spectacle with music, parades, and endless fun. Film enthusiasts should also check out the International Film Festival in October.
How to Get There
Sitges is very easy to reach. From Barcelona Airport, it’s about 30 minutes by train or car. There are also great connections from other parts of Spain. Once you arrive, everything is within walking distance, as the town is compact and easy to navigate.
In Conclusion
If you’re looking for a destination where you can relax and enjoy culture and amazing food, Sitges is the perfect choice.
I hope I’ve inspired you to visit this wonderful place. Let me know in the comments what you think about Sitges or if you have any questions! Until the next blog!
