My recommendations of local places to visit in Barcelona..

Bunkers del Carmel

bunkers-barcelona-guideThis site is a symbolic milestone of the Spanish civil war. The bunkers were built to protect against the series of about 200 bombings in Barcelona during the civil war (1936-1939). Besides the historical value, the bunker are also build on top of a hill which gives a unique perspective of Barcelona. We recommend that you take a picnic basket with you and watch the sunset because the view is like no other, when you see the Sun disappear in front of you.

Carrer del Turó de la Rovira, 61I, 08032 Barcelona

Cycling tour

cycling-barcelona-guideWould you like to get to know the city of Barcelona, it is very nice to have a cycling tour through Barcelona. Barcelona has little height difference which makes the city excellent for cycling. There are wide boulevards where you can cycle along well! There are also many bicycle paths in Barcelona, and because the cycling is becoming more popular, there are more and more built.

Mercat Del Encants

mercat-barcelona-guideThe Mercat Del Encants is the largest and most famous flea market in Barcelona. Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday is the Carrer del Dos de Maig (not far from the pickle of Barcelona) littered with books, clothes, knickknacks and other ‘ bargains ‘. The Mercat Del Encants is a great place to walk around and to look at the arts of Barcelona.

Calle Castillejos, 158, 08013 Barcelona

Montjuïc

monjuice-barcelona-guideThe name of Montjuïc, according to the experts from ‘mont’ (mountain) and  ‘juïc’ (‘ Jewish ‘ in old-fashioned Catalan). Montjuïc has a long history for the city of Barcelona, with periods of glory and other of darkness. Montjuïc offers the visitors different facets: history, culture, fun and sporty.

Parc de la Ciutadella

parque-ciutadella-Barcelona-guideThe park is a terrific place for couples to have a relaxing time, or for families to celebrate a birthday party.Parc de la Ciutadella is one of the most gorgeous locations in Barcelona, it provides you the opportunity to run away from the loud and busy city while you walking around under the palm trees and experiencing the Mediterranean vegetation.

Hospital Sant Pau from Gaudi

The hospital Sant Pau is designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. Also here are a lot of ornaments and decorations. As well in the main building and the more than thirty pavilions. But the most special is that each Pavilion has his own appearance. The construction began in 1902 and were completed in 1930. Entirely appropriate in the trend of Gaudí, the project was settled quietly because of money shortage.

Carrer de Sant Quintí, 89, 08026 Barcelona

Poble Espanyol

Poble Espanyol was built in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exhibit as the structure committed to fine art. From the begin it was viewed as a genuine ‘town’ in the heart of the city. This 49,000 m2 ‘village’ brings together the major characteristics of the styles of the various areas in Spain. The streets, squares and also 117 buildings are recreated to full-scale
