In this blog, I will take you through my personal itinerary for a weekend in Barcelona. Ready for some Gaudí, sea views, and sangria? Let´s go!
Day 1: Culture, cathedrals & culinary delights
09:00 – arrival and breakfast at Brunch & Cake
After an early flight from you country (tip: go for a direct flight), Brunch & Cake is the perfect place to kick off your day. Think avocado toast with edible flowers, slow-pressed juice, and the most photogenic pancakes ever. Booking ahead is smart, as it is a popular spot.
10:30 – Sagrada Familia
Start your cultural deep dive with a visit to Gaudí´s masterpiece. Book your tickets online in advence to skip the queues. The catherdal is still under construction, which only adds to its magic. Tip: get an audio guide to learn the stories behhind the facades.

12:30 – Walk through Eixample & lunch at El Nacional
Wander through the elegant streets of the Eixample district towards El Nacional, a stylish food court featuring Spanish specialties. Go for a selection of tapas and be sure to try the Iberico ham and pan con tomate.
14:30 – Passeig de Gràcia & Casa Batlló
A paradise for shoppers and architecture lovers alike. Admire the modernist facades, step inside Casa Batlló, and soak up the unique vibe of this chick boulevard.

17:00 – Siesta at the hotel or in the park
Need a quick recharge? Go for a power nap at your hotel or unwind in the nearby Parc de la Ciutadella.
19:30 – Dinner in El Born: Tapeo
El Born is a lively neighborhood full of narrow streets and hidden gems. Tapeo serves up delicious tapas in a cozy setting. The grilled octopus and patatas bravas are a must-try!
21:30 – Cocktails at Paradiso
Hidden behind a pastrami shop, this speakeasy cocktail bar ranks among the top 19 in the world. A spectacular interior with even more spectacular drinks.
Day 2: Sun, sea & soul
08:30 – Breakfast at Granja Petitbo
A vintage-style café with delightful granola bowls, toast with jamón serrano, and quality coffee. A relaxed way to start the day.
10:00 – Park Güell
More Gaudí! Stroll through the colorful park, admire the mosaics, and take in the view over the city. Make sure to buy your entry tickets in advance.
12:00 – Head to Barceloneta beach
Hop on the metro or rent an electric scooter to head to the beach. Walk along the promenade, feel the sand beneath your feet, and maybe go for a quick swim?

13:30 – lunch at La Barceloneta
In the mood for paella with a sea view? This is your spot. Make a reservation and grab a table on the terrace. The seafood paella is highly recommended.

15:00 – Gothic Quarter & Barcelona cathedral
Get lost in the medieval alleyways, explore unique boutiques, and dont forget to look up: the architecture is stunning. The cathedral offers fee entry in the early evening.
17:00 – Ice cream, at Gelaaati di Marco
Cool down with handcrafted Italian gelato. Try the pistacio or mango sorbet.
18:00 – Final view: Bunkers del Carmel
End your weekend with a breathtaking view over the city from the Bunkers. Bring some snacks and enjoy the sunset. Pure magic.

20:00 – Dinner at La Pepita
Before heading home, enjoy one last Spanish meal. La pepita is casual, delicious, and afforable. Try their signature ´pepitas´ and a glass of vermouth.
22:00 – Time to head home (or stay one more night….)
If your light is later in the evening, you still have a little time to say goodbye to this vibrant city. Or just book another night. Because lets be honest: Barcelona never gets old.
