14th of February, That means Valentine’s Day!

Are you visiting Barcelona during Valentine’s Day? Or are you still deciding if you should go to Barcelona? In this blog post we made a guide about how to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Barcelona!

The people in Catalonia have their own version of Valentine’s Day and they celebrate it in April. But for tourist Barcelona is the place to be on the 14th of February! Read a long and I’ll tell you why you should celebrate the 14th of February in Barcelona.

 

The beach in Barcelona

The beach is one of the most romantic places you can visit. Especially if you arrive before sunset so you can see the sun go down for the ultimate romance. During your stroll around the beach you should bring a nice bottle of wine, music and a blanket so you can have a nice and romantic picnic.

Barceloneta beach is probably the best beach to spend your Valentine’s Day. It is one of the oldest and most loved beaches of Barcelona. It is easy to reach by public transport and after your stroll on the beach you can have dinner at some of the great restaurants on the boulevard to continue your night. There are so many bars and restaurants overlooking the water.

 

Take a walk through the park

There are so many parks in Barcelona and a walk through one of these parks is a good way to spend your Valentine’s Day.

Parc Guell
Parc Guell is a great place to visit, from this colorful park you can not only see Gaudi’s beautiful work but also experience the amazing view. The park is famous and really popular among tourist and locals as well. It is one of Barcelona’s top attractions. The park has many places where you can picnic for a romantic lunch.

Ciutadella Park
You can’t miss visiting this romantic park while you’re in Barcelona. The park is located right next to Barcelona Zoo and has a museum as well that way you can easily combine these activities into one.  To enter this park you can walk through the Arc de Triomph. Once you’re inside you can rent a rowboat for only 6 euro’s and you can take your date on a romantic ride around the lake. The park is quite big and it has a lot of activities. The Ciutadella park is Barcelona’s oldest and largest park.

Each park has some unique things but what they all have in common is romance!

 

Romantic dinner

A romantic dinner may sound like a cliché but it can be just as romantic as walking through a park. In Barcelona there are endless restaurants where you can have a romantic dinner. But I selected a few:

Meneghina
This restaurant is located in the neighborhood El Bron close to the Picasso museum. The restaurant has an Italian cuisine and it is run by Catalan and Italian owners. There is welcoming and special atmosphere at this restaurant.

Salero
This restaurant was a former salted fish warehouse and since then it has become a classic in Barcelona. It has a cozy atmosphere with their white tones and warm lighting. It has a Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant is located in the heart of El Born, close to Santa Maria del Mar gothic basilica and the Picasso museum. This restaurant is a place where you feel at ease and where you will enjoy your dinner.

Mirabe
This restaurant is located a bit out of town. That makes it perfect if you want to escape de busy city and enjoy a quiet dinner with amazing views. The restaurant has a huge balcony overlooking Barcelona. Their menu has a wide variety of original and creative dishes.

Make sure that you make a reservation for the restaurant you want to dine at. During Valentine’s Day it can get busy at some restaurants. Also check if they have a special Valentine’s Day menu.

 

Tablao Flamenco Show

You can take your partner to a typical Spanish Flamenco show. The show is located on the famous La Rambla. You can watch the flamenco show while having a nice glass of wine. You can also choose to have dinner during the show. This is perfect if you also want to experience the Spanish culture. Make sure you order your tickets in advance so you and your date are assured of a great night. Watching the Tablao Flamenco Show will be an evening to never forget.

Tibidabo

Take your loved one to the mountain of Tibidabo. On top of the mountain there is an amusement park where you can enjoy the all the rides. The amusement park is one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe. You can admire the beautiful view of Barcelona and its surroundings. Other than an amusement park there is also a beautiful church on top of the mountain. If you and your date love to work out there are a couple of hiking routes. Or you can enjoy a nice drink or meal at one of the bars on top of the mountain. Tibidabo is a bit far from the city centre and you can go there by taking the Tramvia Blau.
