The 48-hours open house Barcelona: where to go!

Every year there is an opportunity to visit old buildings you normally are not allowed to vistit in Barcelona, in October. This weekend this 48h open house Barcelona takes place again and we will tell you where you have to go in this blog. If you do not know what to do this weekend, we have selected some options for you! All the following buildings are free to visit this weekend.

 

Antiga Tineça d’Alcaldia d’Hostafrancs
The first thing you are able to visit during the open house Barcelona, is Antiga Tinença d’Alcaldia d’Hostafrancs (Seu del districte). This is an old government building, which you normally can only see from outside. On this saturday you can go inside the building and see the beautiful interior! The doors are open on Saturday 27 October from eleven till three o’clock. The address of the building is C. de la Cruz Cover, 104-106 (08014) Barcelona. Enjoy the nice old building and the beautiful windows.

Antigua Cárcel Modelo
The second place which you have to visit during the open house Barcelona, is the prison The Model. It is a prison with a lot of history; on some of the walls there are still wall paintings from prisoners. The prison was really poor and gloomy. You are able to visit the prison on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 till 20:00. The address is Carrer d’Entença, 155 (08029) Barcelona.

Arc de triomph
The third activity during the open house Barcelona, is the Arc de Triomf. This is a really famous and well known building in the centre of Barcelona city. It is built in 1888 as a opening for the world exhibition that took place in Barcelona. A lot of tourists and locals visit it to admire the beauty of this building. With this event you are able to climb the Arc and have a view from above.  The Arc de Triomf is only for people older than eighteen years old because of safety rules. The address of the Arc de Triomf is Arc de Triomf, Barcelona (08018) Barcelona and you can visit it on Saturday from 10:30 till 19:00 and on Sunday from 10:30 till 18:00.

The Biblioteca Arús
The fourth place you can visit during the 48h open house Barcelona, is the biblioteca Arúsus. Back in the days it was a beautiful living house till the 19th century, but when the owner died it has been transformed into a library. It is open on Saturday from 11:00 till 15:00 and you can find it on Pg. de Sant Joan, 26 (08010) Barcelona.

Casa de las Ciutat
This is the building and headquarters of the Barcelona City Council. It is located in the historic center of the city across the Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia. The building is open on Sunday from 10:00 till 13:30 and you can find the building on C. de la Font de Sant Miquel, 2 (08002) Barcelona.
