Moritz Barcelona: A Must-Visit Tapas Bar

by | Apr 2, 2012 | Barcelona Guide | 0 comments

Local beer manufacturer Moritz Barcelona has reinvented its city brewery venue as a tapas bar and restaurant. Situated just off Plaza de Universitat a short walk from Plaza Catalunya, the brand name business has opened its doors again and created the ideal relaxed and laidback tapas afternoon venue for city travelers staying in our Barcelona apartments.

With interiors designed by the award-winning architect famous for Torres Agbar (Jean Nouvel), Moritz Barcelona has renovated the site of the beer’s original brewery into a funky-without-being-overly-upmarket venue ideal for groups or solo travellers to rest awhile and test some of the latest tapas flair the city can offer. This isn’t the complex cuisine of the Ferran Adria-style school of foams and molecular gastronomy, but instead a stylish and flavorsome take on traditional tapas, with prices that match any of the local tapas eateries scattered throughout the city.

If you are dining alone, you can sit at the bar for a further 8% discount or along the front entrance tables. These spots are ideal for solo travellers who want to scan the papers or write postcards while sampling the brand’s beer or trying out a tasting plate. Around the corner, larger spaces allow for groups and families to get comfortable and select racions (full plate serves) or half-racions from a menu available in Castellano, Catalan and English.
