Mercedes-Benz fashionweek
On the 20 till 30 January is the Mercedes-Benz fashionweek the next edition of this famous event for professionals and enthusiasts of fashion id located at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam.

National Tulip Day, known in Dutch as Nationale Tulpendag, is the official launch of the tulip season. Every year, on the third Saturday of January, Amsterdam’s Dam Square is filled with approximately 200,000 tulips. Entree is for free!

The Food Soul Festival transforms the Kromhouthal in Amsterdam Noord into a massive restaurant, packed with mobile kitchens offering a lip-smacking range of delicious food. A top quality mix of mobile kitchens are expected to roll up for the weekend of culinary fun, serving up dishes from all corners of the globe. Also look out for a wine bar and another bar offering craft beers – the perfect accompaniment to all that tasty grub.

Neonsplash
Big on beats and top DJs, Neonsplash is one of the country’s biggest paint parties. Taking place at AFAS Live on 4 February 2017, some 15,000 litres of washable paint are set to bring colour to the night. Located at the Amterdam Arena.

After a successful edition last year, the Open Tower Day returns to Amsterdam to once again invite the public to climb a selection of both historical and modern towers scattered around the city. Amsterdam has many monumental towers that peak over its skyline, but the public rarely ever gets to experience the special views of the city from inside them.

King’s Day (Dutch: Koningsdag), is the National holiday celebrated with joyful open air festivities on the King’s Willem- Alexander birthday, held each year in April in the Netherlands. Amsterdam celebrations are the biggest and the most attractive. More than million people arrive to the city to celebrate this day. Street carnival, dancing and singing combined with the open air free market, selling and buying of all kinds of small objects by almost all Amsterdam citizens. Traditionally the reigning monarch portraits are on display and streets are decorated with national Dutch flags and the color of orange, the traditional color of the monarchy and the symbol of Dutch patriotism. Many any people dress up as the King or wear the King’s insignia, while almost all try to have an orange accent in their clothing.

Remembrance and Liberation Day
Amsterdam joins the rest of the Netherlands on 4 May when its citizens pause to pay their respects to the victims and fallen soldiers of World War II, as well as more recent military conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Then it’s time for a national party on 5 May, as the crowds take to the streets to celebrate their freedom on Liberation Day.

Gay pride on the canals
The canal parade is one of the most famous events of the Amsterdam Gay Pride, because we are hosting EuroPride in 2016 we are going to create a very special canal parade for you. The floats will start their route in the Westerdok and will finish via the Prinsengracht, Amstel, Nieuwe Herengracht into the Oosterdok. The first float leaves at the Prinsengracht at 14.00h and the the last float will close the parade at the end around 18.00h.

Appelsap Festival
Appelsap Fresh Music Festival brings world-class Hiphop, R&B, electronic music and Dutch talent to Amsterdam.Appelsap is famous for introducing the latest in US Hiphop and UK Bass DJ’s to a Dutch Crowd. In previous years the festival welcomed headliners such as Kendrick Lamar, Disclosure, Travi$ Scott, Lunice, Flatbush Zombies, Rashad & Spinn, French Montana, Danny Brown, ScHoolboy Q, Machinedrum, Theophilus London, Jesse Boykins III, music platform Boiler Room and Los Angeles’ finest party The Do-Over all to appear for the first time in the Amsterdam open air. Other names that billed earlier Appelsap line ups are Hudson Mohawke, Waka Flocka Flame, Clipse, Action Bronson, Pharoahe Monch, Rustie, DJ EZ, J. Dilla, Rich Medina, DJ Riz, Krept & Konan, Jackmaster and Kurtis Blow. Some of the best DJ’s are the festival’s best friends: FS Green, Cinnaman, SP, Lefto, Benji-B, Vic Crezée, The Flexican and Breach are all well known returning guests.

Mysteryland
Each year, the Mysteryland dance festival transforms a patch of land 20 kilometres from Amsterdam into a magical place with fairytale surroundings, themed stages, open fields and intimate spaces.
One of the highlights of Amsterdam’s dance festival agenda, Mysteryland strikes down with a broad line-up of creative events alongside the annual explosion of varied electronic musical styles ranging from cutting-edgedubstep, hip-hop and disco to top international names in house, technoand electro. The festival programme also traditionally includes exhibitionsby small-scale artistic collectives, theatre makers, spoken-word artists and what is claimed to be the ‘smallest cinema of the world’, aiming to send its visitors on a journey of discovery.

Dam tot Dam run
The Dam tot Dam Weekend sprints into town every September, bringing with it not only thousands of sporting enthusiasts but also numerous live performances to urge on the participants and keep the crowds entertained.
The Dam tot Damloop (Dam to Dam Run) does exactly what it says on the tin, weaving in excess of 35,000 runners on a ten mile (16.1 km) course from Amsterdam to the heart of Zaandam. An extra special addition is the 5-mile night race on the Saturday evening.

Sinterklaas
Every November, Sinterklaas travels from his home in Spain to the Netherlands, bringing presents and special treats for the children. The day after he arrives in the Netherlands, he traditionally takes part in a colourful parade through Amsterdam.The arrival festivities include a boat parade and horse parade through the city. Children line the route to wave at Sint and his friends, as traditional sweets rain down upon them.

Valhalla seamlessly fuses two things that aren’t traditionally linked: electronic music and circus communities. The best and brightest electronic dance initiatives in Amsterdam team up to host a night filled with the biggest names in dance music and the best of classic circus culture. Returning each December, the festival sees the RAI Amsterdam transformed into a clubbing Valhalla.
