November, the perfect month for a city-trip in Barcelona. There are only a few tourists and with the average of 17 degrees during the day it’s still very nice to do some sight-seeing! In this blog I will tell you all the events in Barcelona in November that are definitely worth visiting!
La Castanyada
You’d might say Halloween but here in Barcelona we say La Castanyada. All Saints’ Day and the evening before are known as the Castanyada. You can eat a lot of roasted chestnuts (‘castanyes’), marzipan cakes (‘panellets’) and roasted sweet potatoes (‘moniatos’). And with the popularity of Halloween rising, you will also find a lot of parties around the city to celebrate this day! The event is on the 31st of October until the 1st of November.
Manga Convention
This huge Manga convention is organized by the Fira of Montjuïc, with 75,000 square meters altogether it is one of the biggest conventions in Europe. Fans of Japanese comics and animation will have the best time here, with exhibits, workshops, music performances and anime showings you will not be bored during this festival. Fiesta Mayor de Sant Martí
This neighborhood street festival will make you feel like a real local. With catalan music, human towers, parades with paper maché giants and of course traditional dinners with paella it makes it the perfect Catalan event. The festival is located in the streets of the ‘barrios’ Clot and Poblenou. The event is from the 8th of November until the 10th. Have fun!
L’Alternativa film festival
If you like film festivals you should definitely visit this one, this festival has been going on for more than 2 decades. With an enormous variety of films there is always something for everyone. They have premieres and tributes but also work by little known or upcoming artists. The event is from the 11th of November until the 17th. Take a look at their website for more information!
Voll-Damm Barcelona Jazz Festival
The Jazz Festival is held in various locations around Barcelona, with numerous great jazz performers from around the world performing. Besides that, there are also a few classes and fun events.
