Plus, they are totally free of charge, so what are you waiting for?

Casa de la Ciutat

Casa de la Ciutat

The first place that is worth a visit during the 48 hours open house Barcelona is Casa de la Ciutat. This is located in the historic center of the city across the Palace of the Generalitat of Catalonia. In 1373, it was built and became the first building to house meetings. Over the past 600 years several adaptions were made but it never lost the meaning of the building. That is why it still houses various meetings where discussions and agreements are made. Nowadays, it is recognised as one of the most important buildings of Barcelona as it is the headquarters for the City Council of Barcelona.

This visit at Casa de la Ciutat is held on Sunday the 27th of October from 10 AM till 1.30 PM. A tour can be requested in English, Catalan and Spanish. Address: Carrer de la Font de Sant Miquel, 2, 08002 Barcelona

Cercle del Liceu

The next place that is worth visiting is Cercle del Liceu, which opened its doors in 1847. This was six months after the Gran Teatre del Liceu made its entrance. The club featured delegate sitting rooms, a wonderful restaurant and other services which it shared with Gran Teatre del Liceu. Cercle del Liceu was built for an English-style private members’ club, where meetings, but also concerts, lectures, presentations and parties were held. Within the building one can find the wonderful Modernisme artwork pieces of the leading artists at that time.

A visit to this building can be taken on Sunday from 10 AM till 1 PM. Address: La Rambla, 65, 08002 Barcelona

Arc de Triomf

Arc de Triomf

Next is the famous and well-known building in the center of Barcelona, Arc de Triomf. This architectural building was designed and built in 1888, as an entrance to the Universal Exhibition of that year. A lot of tourists and locals visit it because of its beauty. Also, the sculptural reliefs and other sculptural motifs make this building very remarkable to many of us. With the event you are able to climb the Arc de Triomf and experience this unique moment by enjoying a breathtaking view.

Make sure to put this building on the top of your list during the 48 hours open house Barcelona event. It can be visited on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM till 7 PM. A tour visit can be arranged in English next to Catalan or Spanish. Address: Passeig de Lluís Companys, 08003 Barcelona

Casa Adret

The third place you definitely have to visit during the 48 hours open house Barcelona, is Casa Adret. Tucked away in the narrow streets of this city, sits the oldest residential house in Barcelona with an incredible amount of history. Originally the house was owned by Astruch Adret, a Jewish businessman. However, due to Catholic rebellions in 1391 he was forced to sell the property. After this period, it had been a music house and a brothel.

This building can be visited on Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM till 2 PM and from 4 PM till 7 PM. Address: Calle de Salomón ben Adret, 6, 08002 Barcelona

Biblioteca Arús

Biblioteca Arús

Are you a lover of culture and history, then you would probably be very interested in visiting the Biblioteca Arús. The building shows wonderful decorative elements by Lluís Pellicer and other craftsman. In the earlier stages, it used to be a living house where Rossend Arús lived on Passeig de Sant Joan. The collections were left to the public after his death and the building got transformed into a library. It became the Catalan public library with the essential source to reference material for students, researchers and others interested in culture, history and society topics.

It is open for visits on Saturday from 11 AM till 2 PM. Address: Passeig de Sant Joan, 26, 08010 Barcelona
